Summer Vacation: Week 1

Tyler participated in a History Camp at Camp Floyd State Park in Fairfield. 11 Boys from our neighborhood went so there was a great carpool system set up for the hour drive. Tyler learned a lot about about life was like during the civil war. The first day he got their he was assigned to be in the Confederate army and was given a gray t-shirt, gray hat and gray canteen. They were also given civil war money to spend on things that they wanted at the store. He had the time of his life. Each day of the camp he was up and dressed, had gotten himself his breakfast and was done with his jobs by 7 am. On the last day of camp the families were invited to come and see what they had learned and watch the Confederates battle against the Yankees. Tyler had trouble getting his caps in his rifle and everytime they said to charge he was fiddling with his rifle. Just as he got up to charge theu would yell to retreat. We had a great time watching him.

Afterwards we decided to drive by our old house in Eagle Mountain since we were so close. Daryl wanted to see how big the trees he planted were. As we passed our old house it just didn't look like it used to. We all felt a little depressed. I have to forget about it though and remember I have a few flower beds of my own that need some weeding.

How fun! so sorry your old house depressed you. Did you drive by my old house? that is depressing, although I've been told that the people who bought it in December have been working on it so it might look better now. We saw it last summer and it had gone to forclosure and I wanted to cry. I had to say the same thing you did. Tyler looks so cute in the hat & gear!

Cindy - No we didn't go by your house. We turned down Fall Street and made it back out.

Jill - We actually split them into two different vehicles, but someone does have a 12 passenger van and took them all one morning. No we didn't get a picture as we went by. I do have pictures before we moved and that is how I remembered it.

How fun for Tyler. Looks like your Summer is off to a great start. I'm finally getting to updating our blog from things that happened back in May.
