Labor Day

We chose to hike to Stewart Falls up Provo Canyon. We had talked about doing it for a while and finally had the chance to do it. Daryl had done it once before when went to a retreat for work at a cabin near the falls. He told us it was easy. As we are passing Sundance and Ashlyn informs us she is wearing flip flops and wants to go back home, Daryl once again tells us it doesn't matter because it is an easy hike. We make it to Aspen Grove and attempt to find a parking. There really isn't any since it is Labor Day, and we do the best we can. We have to walk quite a distance before we reach the trail head. It says 2 miles, but Daryl said it was easy so it must not be too bad.
You know you have chosen a bad crowded day to go hiking when:
  • You feel claustrophobic hiking on an open mountain.
  • You manage to run into someone from work, school, the ward AND even an old ward you used to go to.
  • You bring a child in flip flops.
  • There are half as many dogs as people and you have to pass them all on skinny trails.
  • You have children that are scared of dogs.
Our two hour hike turned into a four hike. We managed to have a little fun, even though we were sore and filthy. We were proud of ourselves for recreating.

A view of the cabins near the falls, one in which Daryl had hiked to from previously. Probably 1/3 of the distance of the hike we took and probably much more level.
