It's that time of year....

that seems to be even crazier then the Christmas season. The month of May, when all of the last of the year events at school get crammed into just a few weeks. Here are a few highlights.

Ashlyn's class went on a field trip to Hogle Zoo and I came along for the ride. Fortunately it was beautiful weather. Last year for Tylers kindergarten field trip to the zoo we weren't so lucky and it was rainy and freezing. There were enough parents that came that I only had 3 kids in my group.

The fourth grade had to come up with inventions. Madisyn had this great idea to create a computer program where you talk into a microphone and it will type what you say. I asked her if the inventions actually had to work and she said yes. I stared at her blankly wondering how I could change her mind on this wonderful idea. I may know how to use a computer, but build one? Yikes! We went to Daryl with the problem. He told us it had already been done. Thank you Daryl! So instead we came up with the idea to invent new snow cone flavors using kool-aid. We called her new brand of flavors "Mad Flavors" since she insists on being called Mad.
The name of her flavors:
Looney Ooney (strawberry, kiwi, lemonade)
Ferocious Fruit (watermelon, cherry, strawberry, kiwi)
Hawaiian Extreme (strawberry, pineapple)
Wacky Snacky (grape, pineapple)
Sour Grape (grape, lemonade)
Zany Berry (raspberry, blueberry, strawberry)

It kept me on my toes because I had to bring shaved ice to school so she could give samples to her classmates. I also went a little overboard (I usually do when I get a chance to play around with Photoshop Elements) and created labels for her flavors.

It was definitely a hit and she is already planning on doing it for mini-society next year. On the Saturday after the inventions she set up her own stand with her friends and sold her new flavors. I think she could have done it all day, but the ice maker ran out.The last week of school they had the 2nd annual Dance Festival. The girls were not excited about this at all since they had to dance with a boy. Ashlyn couldn't handle holding someone else's dry hands. I may be introuble for posting these videos.
