Tuesday:
The 3rd graders had their authors fair. Ashlyn chose Brandon Mull. She wanted to dress like Kendra. We figured Kendra probably wore clothes like most girls so Ashlyn dressed like she does any other day of the week.

Wednesday:
Dance festival. They do the dances by grade.
Tyler did the parachute dance. They didn't have enough boys so he had to do the girls part. He thought that was funny.
Ashlyn did the stick dance. I know there is a different name for it, but I can't remember what it is.
Madsiyn did the sophisticated Hula. Unfortunately the the other kids never saw me so I didn't get a picture. I did mange to get it on video though.
Thursday:
Mini Society. The 5th and 6th grades form cities (their classes). In their city (Madisyn's was named Sesame Street) the students picked a mayor, a policeman and a banker, and then the rest of the students created a business to sell things. I was impressed with some of the creative stores. Some sold candy or food, some did full service salons and others were taxi services. All of the students at school were given some play money to make purchases. Parents could also go to the banker to get money to buy things. Madisyn used her 4th grade invention of "Mad Flavors" to open up a snow-cone shop. I kept busy shaving ice at home at running to the school every hour or two to make an ice delivery.
Every time I came she would ask if there was any garbage around her table, and if there was even a dot of Mad Flavor syrup on the table she wipe it up immediately and everything had to be in perfect order. She also brought several pairs of gloves to use while serving food, and then started passing them out to the kids around her who were selling food items. I thought it was so funny how she was acting. Coming back from one of my ice runs I noticed the girl next to her, who was also selling snow cones, had her table covered in syrup and was busy eating melted chocolate which was smeared all over her face. I didn't think Madisyn was so silly after all. I think the Health Department would have been really proud! It paid off, Madisyn came in first or second place (her and Katelyn were so close she doesn't know) with amount of money earned. With the money they earned they were able to participate in an auction, and Madisyn came home with a ton of stuff. She couldn't stop talking about how much fun she had.

Friday:
Last day of school. I can't believe the year went by so fast. They were able to find out their teachers for next year. Madisyn will be in 6th. She will have a main teacher and then trade off the rest of the day to all of the teachers. I guess this helps prepare them for junior high. This is their first year doing it so I hope it goes well. Ashlyn's teacher for next year found her at Tyler's softball game the other night and gave her a big hug and told her how excited she was to have her. It's nice knowing that she already knows Ashlyn, so it should be an easy adjustment. Tyler will have the teachers that Ashlyn has had this past year. When we went to pick Ashlyn up he told them and they were excited. That makes him excited too.

I found in Ashlyn's back pack, when I finally went through it, and award she recieved for being in the top 10% Nationally for standarized testing in Science, Language Arts and overall composite. Congratualtions Ashlyn!
