We took a quick trip to Bear Lake last weekend. The plan was to leave early on Thursday and head up there, but by time Madisyn went to soccer, we finished packing, and then made a few stops along the way, it was about 5:00 by time we made. Fortunately I spent 4 hours the day earlier making my dinner for the night (chicken fajitas) so there was not much food preparation once we got there. Of course with in a half hour of getting there it started to rain and then pour. We were just finishing setting the tents (we used two 3 men tents)up so the girls and I and Ryan hung out in the "girl" tent. Fortunately Tyler was sitting in the boys tent so when the wind came and started picking the tent up he was there to somewhat keep in grounded. I almost thought it was going to lift him away. We were laughing so hard. I wish we could have had a picture of that one. Of course that looked like so much fun and so large groups of kids starting jumping in to enjoy the ride from the wind. In the process I heard a crack and one of the tent poles snapped. (Daryl attempted fixing it with duct tape, but was not very successful). Luckily the rain somewhat stopped and we were able to eat dinner and then walk down to the beach. The kids promised they weren't going to get wet, but the mixture of sand and water is just a little too tempting.
In the middle of the night (1:30 am) we were suddenly awoken with the sound of monstrous thunder and lightening hitting at the same time. All of my kids slept through it amazingly. It scared Kristin and she looked out of the trailer to make sure the tents were still standing (thanks for checking Kristin!) The thunder and lightening continued for quite a while and then the rain came. And boy did it pour. I stayed awake forever, worried about the boys because their tent leaks. Unbeknown to me, Daryl had carried the boys into his parents trailer right after the first thunder and lightening had hit.
The morning continued to be rainy, but by 11:00 it became sunny and we were able to enjoy the rest of the day at the beach. After dinner we headed back home. We hit a terrible storm on the way home and were glad we didn't have to spend another night in a tent with a rain storm. The kids had a great time. The last big hurrah before school starts!
I messed up when I did the slide show. There are a total of 23 pictures and in the middle there will be a gap of black for the photo. Hard to do with Ryan on my lap begging to play Hotwheels!

The Bear Lake pics look like so much fun, We missed out especially that thunder and lightning. Hip Hip Hurray! So happy for you and the kids back to school!
