Spring Break

This took some time coming because the camera got lost last Saturday at BYU. Fortunately it made it's way to the lost and found on Wednesday. I didn't care so much about the camera (it is beginning to fall apart) as I did about all the pictures I had on it still.

Spring Break also happened to coincide with the last week of preschool for Ryan so we stuck around here the whole week. Monday was also parents day at preschool. My poor kids still had to get up extra early on their first day of spring break and leave the house just after 8:00 am to make it to UVSC. While Ryan was at preschool I took the other kids shopping to look for new shoes. unfortunately for them we didn't find anything cheap enough for my taste. At 10:00 we made it to preschool and watched Ryan sing a few songs. We then broke up into groups and played different games with the big parachute. My favorite thing on the parachute was when the kids would lay flat on it and then we would shake it back and forth. The kids would start movie everywhere. Here is video of Ryan's turn.

We then went back to his classroom and had treats. Dirt with worms! (Chocolate pudding, oreos, and gummy worms).
Ryan also showed us the seed he planted that was growing by leaps and bounds.Afterwards we headed to Nielson Grove Park for a little picnic. We didn't stay too long as it was hot and all of the kids were in desperate need of a bathroom and I couldn't find one.

Tuesday was cold and rainy. Fortunately I had made an appointment with my sister in-law Tauna to come and tune my piano and so she brought her girls to come play. They spent most of the morning playing school. (I thought they would be excited to be out of school, but I guess they were missing it too much.)

Wednesday was the last day of preschool. It was hard not to cry. I will miss my opportunity to go grocery shopping and run errands all by myself. It will also be sad for Ryan because he was always so excited to go. Here he is with his teacher Miss Anita. That evening they got to stay up late and watch Raiders of the Lost Ark. Tyler has been begging to watch it ever since Daryl started reading him the chapter book of it. We were a bit leary to let him see it, but finally gave in and Daryl had the remote in hand to skip over any gory parts. I thought for sure Ryan would run upstairs and join me watching American Idol results because he is scared of a lot of movies. He stayed downstairs for the whole thing though. When I asked him about it he said that "that Indiana Jones is a funny guy." I guess Daryl was pretty successful using that remote.

Thursday we went to Ryan's weekly playgroup. There were lots of kids this week with school being out. The rest of the afternoon was spent with the kids playing with their friends and me reading a book. Now that's what I call fun!

Friday we drove up to the Discovery Gateway and met their cousins Nicole and Jacob. They have a membership and so most of the kids were able to get in free with them. (Thanks Jill! That saved a bundle.) The kids played for hours and had so much fun. Ryan's favorite activity is the beehive where you put balls in different tubes. I think we spent a good hour and a half just in that room. We also made some cute sock puppets in the craft room. The older kids spent most of their time putting on skits with different costumes.

After we went to Grandma Glaziers for pizza and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Afterwards Madisyn said that her friend told her there was a part where someone's heart gets taken out and she couldn't remember seeing that part. Kudos to Daryl. He has some great remote control skills. He did it so smoothly you couldn't tell anything was skipped.

Saturday afternoon Daryl took the kids to a BYU baseball game and then to BYU Creamery for ice cream. It's all the kids could talk about the next morning at breakfast. It was the first baseball they had been too.

Ryan's last week has come and gone? Nicole finishes in a few weeks, too. Now what?

That was FUN at the gateway.
