First Day of School and then some....

After a week I think it is finally time to post some pictures of the first day. I am not allowed to walk them to their classes (not a school rule, just the kids' rule). So I took care of the pictures at home. School is starting 15 minutes later this year and I am still trying to adjust to that. I get used to piling the kids in the van when it's a certain time on the clock. I'm messed up right now with the time change. At least they are getting there on time.

Madisyn has now started the 5th grade. After stressing about it all summer, I haven't heard a complaint, except one. When I asked her how the first day went she was happy and all excited about it, and then she stops as if in shock and says......"The principal came in today and told us that since we are in 5th grade now we need shower and put on deodorant everyday because it can get smelly in the classroom after recess. She thinks we stink! How rude!" I tried to explain to her that they don't want to kill off their teacher because there are no windows in the room to air out the class. On Friday morning she told me they were going to have an Olympics event day. When she got in the van she informed me she had won a bronze medal in running.
ME: So who got the gold? (wondering what girl in her class won it)
MAD: Oh, a 6th grade boy.
ME: The 6th graders did it?
MAD: Just one class.
ME: How about the silver?
MAD: A 5th grade boy.
ME: So just your class?
MAD: No, all of the 5th grade. I probably would have done better, but a 6th grade girl was trying to push me into the cones while I was running.
ME: So in other words you beat out almost all of the 6th and 5th grade boys and all of the girls?
MAD: Yes.
It made me laugh to think of all the boys she beat.

Ashlyn is now in the 3rd grade. It's a class full of all her friends. (There is a whopping 31 kids in the class) There were few kids she didn't know, but she has already made friends with one those previously unknown and has already had to go and play over at her house. Her favorite things so far are that she has two teachers, one in the morning and one after lunch. She has started cursive and says that the k's are the hardest so far.

Tyler is now in 2nd grade. He has really loved it so far. He brought homework home on Monday that is due on Friday and he has pretty much finished it. He is my one that never complains about homework.

And here is Ryan who is sad that he is not part of the picture festivities. He has to be patient until September 8th when he gets to start preschool.

Happy day! Back to school. They look so cute. Nicole has that same shirt as Madi, but in brown.

That is funny about the class stinking. It's funny because those classes really DO stink! No offense.

Tyler looks very grown up lately and I can't beleive Madi is in 5th grade.
