I wish I could tell you more about what they did, but I wasn't much myself the whole time. I even fell asleep at the beach wrapped up in my sweatshirt. Before we left I checked the weather report and it showed that it would be COLD, COLD, COLD at night (in the 30's). I didn't really want to go, but Daryl went out of his way to make sure we were warm and stocked up on some mummy bags for the family to sleep in. (I told him if I had another bad year at Bear Lake he wouldn't be able to get me to go next year). I think I must be a bad luck charm.
For Example:
2006-Freezing temperatures. After the first night of shaking all night because I was so cold I had to resort to tyeing a swimming suit around my head to keep warm while I slept the 2nd night. Kids packed their own bags with Daryl's help. They arrived with tank tops and shorts to sleep in along with thin tweety bird sleeping bags. Ashlyn even forgot her swimsuit.

2008-Freezing night time temperatures (although the mummy bag did keep me warm). Cold at the beach until Ryan and I headed back to the camp. Then it was nice and beautiful for everyone for a few hours. Then Ryan and I head back down to the beach. They were planning another ride on the boat and within 5 minutes of us getting to the beach a storm started to roll in and the water got really choppy.
Anyway, Friday night I felt really achy the whole night, figuring I wasn't sleeping comfortable because I wasn't in my own bed. By morning I was anxiously trying to get packed up so we could get on the road to head home. I kept feeling worse and worse. An hour into our drive home I just knew that I had strep throat. I could tell Daryl didn't believe my own diagnosis. We made a stop in Evanston to get gas (much cheaper then Utah) and find the ibuprofen. (Side note, it felt like winter in Evanston with the wind blowing. I walked into the grocery store and I couldn't stop shaking. I think people were looking at me funny). All we could find in the bag was the children's ibuprofen. FYI, that stuff works fast. By time we got to Park City I was able to function and we were able to get some much needed school shopping done. By time we got home though I was down in bed for the rest of the weekend. I was finally able to get my diagnosis confirmed by a doctor on Monday and able to get my much needed antibiotics. I am not completely myself yet, but I can feel it's coming. Just in time to get the kids ready for school tomorrow.
I really hope I didn't expose anyone to strep throat at Bear Lake. If I did I apologize. If anyone in your family comes down with a fever/chills/sore throat/upset stomach you will know what it is!
And I hope Daryl has now learned that he will need to find some other place for us to vacation. My bad luck doesn't seem to follow us other places.

I am so sorry you were sick. Not a very fun vaca.
I talked to Sandra and she said that she got your e-mail. She even talked to her folks about it. That is so crazy.
Hope your first day of school was good. Can't wait to see the pics :)
LOL! That made me laugh so much. Bear Lake the second time was so cold that I would have not enjoyed it had we not had our motorhome. I stayed in it so much because it was so cold and it makes the beach NOT fun! Too bad you guys didn't come 2 weeks before. It was SO hot and way more fun. I think that the Bear Lake vaca is always scheduled too late and that is what makes it so miserable. :( Sorry about your sickness!
