Finding a boy name with a "y" in it is tough. Especially a name that can be agreed upon. There are so many cute girl names with "y"s and we had a long list to choose from, but not boy names. Naming all of our kids with a "y" in it wasn't exactly planned out from the beginning. Take into consideration that he will be grandchild #34 in Daryl's family so that eliminates some more "y" names and names that rhyme with those names.
HISTORY: While pregnant with Tyler I had this AH-HA moment when I realized that all of us had a "y" in our name. We thought it might be fun to continue this tradition. Tyler was going to be named Kendall up until 2 weeks before he was born, when we decided to keep with the tradition and finally agreed on the name Tyler. Madisyn actually called him Kendall the first 3 weeks of his life because she couldn't get used to the name Tyler. So once we made the decision to put a "y" in everyone's name, we had to keep with it. We would hate for any child to feel left out because they weren't part of the "y" family. Who knew that once the decision was made that we would have to come up with a boy name every time. Ryan's name also wasn't decided on until the last month or so. Now we are trying to do it all over again.
A few weeks back Ryan was working on Mr. Y at school and while we were doing his homework we were coming up with different names to name the baby. Ryan came up with:
*Boy
*Baby
and my most favorite
*Yo
I think we rolled on the floor laughing at this name for a good 15 minutes, and still laugh at it when it is brought up.
While talking to my mom on the phone one day she mentioned the name Troy. All of our boys have middle names that are family names. My mom's maiden name is Bolton so I said we could name him Troy Bolton Glazier. The girls and I had a good laugh at this name too. I don't think having a child named after a High School Musical character went over too well with Daryl.
To make it even harder we could come up with a name that rhymes with "Bear" so we could sing
"Ryan's and Tyler's and (name that Rhymes or sounds similar with Bears) Oh My!
So for the serious names that we are considering.
WYATT - at one point this was on the list. The kids from the beginning have been fighting this one. I don't know why. Madisyn even took the vote to her class to prove her point, and according to her it was a unanimous NO on Wyatt. I have completely given up on that one now.
DYLAN - this is the name the kids are calling it. It is starting to grow on me. Daryl says no.
DALLYN - This is the name Daryl is set on. This is what Madisyn would have been had she been a boy. The only difference is we weren't naming our kids with a "y" back then. I have no problem with the name Dallin, I do like it, but I just don't like Dallyn with a "y". It just doesn't look very masculine.
SKYLER - Back at the beginning of December, before the announcement was made at Christmas that we would be having a baby, Madisyn told me that she had a dream that I was going to have a baby boy. She had this dream two nights in a row, and on the second night she found out that it's name would be Skyler. When she told me, I told her we could never have a boy named Skyler because it rhymes with Tyler. I get tongue tied as it is. In the last week though I discovered that if you take the "S" off of the beginning and the "R" off the end you end up with KYLE. Madisyn said she already knew this from her dream. I guess I am a bit slow. So KYLE could be a possibility, but we might need to ask permission from our 4 year old next door neighbor if we can use his name.
Hopefully we can agree in the next few months. Who knows, maybe some new name that we haven't even considered might pop up. If not, I guess we can always fall back on YO.

I love the name Dylan.
Congratulations, Amy! Not that you are taking votes, but I love Wyatt and Dallyn (I actually think Dallyn looks nice with a "y") you have a lot of nice names to choose from, though, so I'm sure you'll figure it all out. :)
Names are such a tricky thing, they are so permanent! Good Luck, you have some cute choices.
