Busy month...

So school started, and instead of things calming down, things just got busier. At least I have a part of the day to regroup before the kids make it home again.

August 29th Daryl and I celebrated our 12th anniversary. He had good intentions to surprise me with plans to head up to Park City for the day, but I got wind of it after Madisyn mentioned he was trying to find someone to watch Ryan. Good thing I did because I had volunteered to watch my neighbors kids. We had to make some quick phone calls and fortunately she was able to find someone else. My parents came down and spent the day with Ryan which he loved. Especially since they took him to McDonalds. I am reminded about it every time we pass it on the way home from preschool. "Why don't you ever tkae me to McDonalds like Grandma does." Anyway, Daryl and I had a great time doing the Alpine Slide and the Alpine Coaster. The Alpine Coaster was definitely the highlight. We heard one lady laughing the whole way down and wondered if it would really live up to all the fun it sounded like she was having. It definitely did!

We finished off the day by going shopping at the outlet mall and then heading to Olive Garden for the all you can eat soup and salad.

Onto September.
This is where things became very crazy. September 8th Ryan started preschool at BYU.
Unfortunately I was never able to find someone to carpool with, so I do not have free time at home like I was hoping for to get things done. I am not complaining though, and will take advantage of things that I might not do otherwise if I was at home. Instead I find things to do around Provo. So mainly I spend my time running errands, walking BYU campus for exercise (the Playaways from the library come in handy here) and going to the temple. One day of the week Daryl drives Ryan so all I have to do is pick him up. Ryan is really loving it. I am glad he gets to go 4 days because I think he would go crazy the other days. He is jealous of the other kids that they get to go 5 days.
It has taken a few weeks, but I am finally getting used to driving BYU campus. I only traveled it by foot back in my college days, so it has been a bit scarey doing it by car. It is so congested with people on foot, scooters and bikes. Bikes are the scariest because they are fast and you think no one is behind you while you pull out and the next thing you know there is a bike speedy past you.

The rest of the month has been spent doing this:
Soccer games for all four kids. We have averaged 6-8 games per week and Daryl coached Ashlyn's team.

Ryan has been doing cub soccer. Definitely laid back and very entertaining. My favorite play happened near the beginning of the season. In cub soccer there are no goalies. Ryan was chasing after a boy from the other team who was heading to the goal with his ball. Ryan jumped ahead of the ball and landed on his knees right inside of the goal. From here the ball bounced off of Ryan's backside. The boy who was kicking the ball caught it in his hands and then preceded to throw it into the goal. No score was kept through the season.

Tyler had a good season with a pretty equal number of wins and losses. He was a lot more aggressive then he has been in years past. He was a lot of fun to watch and sometimes it actually got pretty intense.

I can't tell you a whole lot about Ashlyn's games because this was the only one I really ever saw. With Daryl as the coach we couldn't take turns going and I was usually at Ryan's games or taking Madisyn to piano. The season was pretty dismal with 0 wins and 1 tie. Daryl started saying he would never coach again, but near the end his team was finally getting it together, even if they never did win. I think he gained his confidence back and is looking forward to next year.

I wasn't at a good angle to really get this shot, but at the end of the game these two friends put their arms around each other and walked off of the field together. I give Ashlyn the good sportsmanship award for being so kind even after being beaten.

It's hard to even tell which one is Madisyn, but this is the only shot I got all season. The fields are so much bigger and the action must faster that it is hard to actually take a decent picture. Madisyn played for the HC Storm Club league this fall. They made it through the season with 0 wins and 1 tie also. Hopefully things will come togther better in the spring.

Busy month...TO BE CONTINUED

Park City looked like it was so much fun. And Olive Garden to boot- sounds like a wonderful anniversary. Your family's fall sports schedule makes me tired to even think about and you have music lessons on top of that. You are super mom!

I am the same way, I think things are going to slow down with school in session but it never seems to! Happy Anniversary, we went to park city a couple of years ago and had a good time but didn't do the slide, I need to go do it again sometime...I can't believe how big your kids are getting! Love the pictures of Ryan sleeping on the cement, poor kid, glad nobody else got it!!
