4 1/2 weeks down 7 more to go

I can't believe it is already July. Summer has been going by pretty quickly with all of our many activities. Keeping up with the kids has kept us very busy. In a nutshell, here is what happened in June.
June 6th we spent the night at Grandma & Grandpa Glaziers for a Hello/Goodbye Party. This was in celebration of Ginnie & Nate's family moving back from PA after being there for 4 years at dental school, and Stacy & Gonzalo's family moving to Chile (this part wasn't exactly a celebration but more of a we will miss you while you are gone event). We had fun staying up late and playing games and then waking up to a big breakfast put on by Grandpa Glazier. We hiked to Moon Rock and then came back for dinner and family pictures. (This part was quite humorous. I really need to have Daryl take those pictures off of the lap top. Just imagine what it was like to do pictures with 31 grandchildren who had very little sleep the night before and then played and hiked all day!)

Three days later we celebrated Tyler's 7th birthday. I worked around the weather and planned his party on his actual birthday, which miraculously was about the only warm the first few weeks of June. We invited 13, thinking not many would show up, but they all did but 1. So it was me with 16 kids for 2 hours. I really don't know what I was thinking. We had fun though playing water games outside. That evening Grandma and Grandpa Glazier came over with Abrie, Kaleb and Macie and had a BBQ, along with more water fun. The day before on Sunday Grandma & Grandpa Andersen came over for dinner in celebration for Tyler's birthday.

The rest of the week I spent at Girls Camp at the Heber Valley Camp. Of course the day I show up it was snowing. Even with 4 layers (t-shirt, 2 sweatshirts and winter coat) I was still freezing. I was so grateful they we could sleep in cabins with a space heater. That's what helped me survive! I did have fun though. Sorry, no pictures, my fingers were too numb to push the button on the camera.

The day after coming home from camp I had to wake up early to run around the neighborhood to put flags up for Flag Day. It was nice to be up early so I could catch the balloon show. One looked like it was going to hit my house. They land at the park just west of my house. From there we went to the Art Cirt Days Parade, where the kids had fun collecting all the candy from the passing floats. There are always alot of people passing out flyers. I wish I could have captured Tylers face when someone dressed as a fairy passed him a flyer. He looked like he had just been handed a million dollars. When I got home I read the flyer and it was to attend a tea party. If he had only read it he probably wouldn't have been so excited.

That evening we walked across the street to the church parking lot and watched the fireworks from the park. It's so nice not to have to beat the crowds.

On Monday the 16th we made our annual trip to Lagoon. This year our neighbors the Binghams joined us. Tyler grew enough over the year that he was able to ride all of the "big" rides, and he wanted to do them all multiple times. As we went around the first loop of the Colossus he was screaming "woooooow". Before going we looked at Lagoon's website and determined how tall you needed to be to ride all of the rides. The ride Wicked stated that if you were under 50" you could not ride. When Daryl went to try it for himself he read that if you were between 46" and 50" you could ride if you were in a booster seat, so he ran back to get anyone who would want to try, Tyler being the only one from our family. Here is a picture of what it looks like. http://www.lagoonisfun.com/html/wicked.html
It launches you at lightening speed straight up at a 90 degree angle and then you fall straight down at a 90 degree angle. Tyler came off just loving it and then begged me to go on it with him. He didn't want me to miss out on the fun. I wasn't sure I wanted to after Matthew Bingham felt quite sick after going on it, but I went anyway. Tyler was the only one around that was getting a booster seat. While going down the 90 degree angle I kept looking at Tyler to make sure he was staying in that booster seat. He was perfectly fine with a screaming smile on his face. I survived and it was pretty fun. The kids all had a great time and keep asking when we will go again.

The rest of the month has been spent at baseball and softball games between the 3 oldest (on average there have been7-8 games a week) and weekly summer movies. This is the first year I have attempted this because Ryan is finally getting better at not being scared of the big screen and sitting good for an hour and a half. Although the week they played Shrek 3 he was starting to yell in the middle of the movie that it was boring and he was ready to go home.

Here is to another 7 more weeks of summer fun!
