This is the time of my life...

I decided to treat myself to the American Idol concert. It was my reward for finishing the Book of Mormon. (although I have to admit I haven't actually finished it quite yet. I waited until a week before to get my tickets so I knew I would finish, but then I got behind schedule during the softball tournament. I'm almost done though!) Daryl said he would go with me. I bought my tickets off of ebay, taking advantage of a scalper (I paid less then half price) and got fantastic seats (9th row, lower bowl, right next to the stage).
On the day of the concert (Monday July 14th) Daryl was talking to Mike Bingham on the way up to scout camp about going to the concert. Daryl really didn't want to admit to anyone why he was leaving scout camp for the evening. Mike thought that Gina would enjoy that too, and so Gina and I spent the next several hours trying to find the best deal. We thought Madisyn and Katelyn would enjoy going too so we were trying to find 4 seats together which was not an easy task. Just a few hours before the concert the tickets were secured. The amazing part was that they were just 3 rows up from us. After the intermission they all joined us because we had four empty seats next to us.
I had a fun time at the concert. My pictures didn't turn out that great, but then again I am not a photographer.

Amy's memorable moments:
* listening to Jason Castro sing my two favorite songs of his (Daydream, Somewhere Over the Rainbow)
*Watching Madisyn's reaction when Brooke White came up through the floor playing the piano. Madisyn is great at not showing emotion, but her feet were stomping, hands clapping, eyes big and a huge smile on her face.
* all of David Archuleta's performances. The roar of the audience was deafening. It was even overwhelming for him. I loved it when he said "I can't believe you made me do his, gosh" as he turned away to wipe his tears away.
* Daryl daring me to get up and start dancing. I said I would if other people were. He then offered to mow the lawn. I still wouldn't, mowing the lawn shouldn't be used as an incentive, even though I'm getting tired of doing it. (By the way Melanie, thank Lance for mowing my front lawn. That's always such a nice surprise!)
* David Cook pulling out a video camera and scanning the audience. Me coming out of my shell and waving my arms back and forth as the camera comes to a stop on our side of the stage. David Cook points for a minute and gives a laugh. Me realizing that he seems to be looking right at me and pointing. There is no one in front of me standing abd the closest ones aren't in range of his pointing. (I will continue this one later.)

Daryl's memorable moments:
* the performances of David Archuleta, Jason Castro, Brooke White and Kristy Lee Cook.
*the screaming girls behind him (only memorable because his left ear was still ringing the next day)
* David Cook pointing at him.

Madisyn's memorable moments:
* Brooke White
* Going to the concert with Katelyn
* The screams of Archie-maniaStory as promised (after getting in the car to head home):
Me: I totally think David Cook pointed at me.
Daryl: No, he was pointing at me.
Me: No, I think he was pointing at me. I was standing there waving my arms back and forth.
Daryl: I was standing.
Me: Yea, but I was standing right in the spotlight that was lighting the aisle.
Daryl: No, he was pointing at me.
Me: His eyes looked like they were looking right at me and his finger was pointed at me.
Daryl: He could have been pointing at someone else.
Me: But there was no on else standing right close to us that he could have been pointing at.
Daryl: I'll let you pretend he was pointing at you.

This conversation occurred several times on the drive.

Going to sleep that night....
Me: I think he really did point at me.
Daryl: It was me he was pointing at.
Me: What would you be doing that he would point at you. You were just standing.
Daryl: I was making funny faces at his camera.
Me: Oh, well then maybe he was pointing at you. You win. (At least he wasn't pointing at the old lady (me) waving her arms back and forth with a camera swinging on her arm. Although I'm sure I did look ridiculous).

I was talking to Gina about this and on their drive home Katelyn said she thought that David Cook was pointing at her. So I really did not imagine this. Daryl got home from scout camp last night and admitted that he was not making faces at the camera. (He probably just wanted to go to sleep that night.) So the mystery continues. Who was David Cook actually pointing at. Was it me? Daryl? Katelyn? or possibly even Madisyn? We may never know.

He was TOTALLY pointing at you Amy! (sorry Daryl) We had so much fun! Thanks for all your help with the ticket search. Now if we could just find a way to adopt David Archuletta... I'll split him with you 50/50 :)
