Softball Tournament

On Monday (July 7th, it has taken me a wile to finish this post) we headed down to Ephraim for Madisyn's softball tournament. Grandma and Grandpa Glazier also came and brought cousin McKenna too. If Madisyn's team (the Angels) lost two games they would be out of the tournament. Her first game was at 3:00 and her team lost 3-1. The next game they played they won 10-6, which meant they had to play another game that night at 8:15, which ended up starting late. They won that one 12-2. By time that game ended it was 10:00. Fortunately we had made reservations at Camperworld near Nephi so we didn't have to drive all the way home that night. We weren't expecting them to make it to Tuesdays round of games, but they did and so we stuck around the camp ground all day Tuesday to wait for the evening game. The kids had fun swimming for a good part of the day. That evening they won their first game 3-2. It was tied the whole game and they won in the final minutes of the game. Going into the next game we knew that if they won this game we would have to return to Ephraim the following night. As parents we were proud of them for making it this far and we were okay if they lost this game. The first hit went straight to Madisyn. She told me later that the sun was totally in her eyes and she just put up her mit in hopes that it would land, and it did! In that inning she also made a great play and got someone out on third. In the end they lost 8-1. They ended up playing a total of 5 games. We had a great time. It surprised me how exciting a softball game with 9 and 10 year-olds can be!

You have to love the t-shirts they were given for their uniform. Madisyn's team was given pretty small ones. It was a youth small and it shrunk so much that she had to wear a tank-top underneath it the whole season. Ashlyn and Tyler and larger shirts than Madisyn.

Ryan spent the majority of the games at the playground. You might wonder why he seems to be wearing the same shirt in all my blog pictures. Well, I find this shirt easy to spot when we are out in the open. I find that no other kids at the playgound are wearing a red. white and blue tie-dyed shirt.
